Editor SDK for photos, videos and print In Img.ly Vs. Picsart

Photo content editing

Picsart is renowned for its extensive photo editing capabilities. The SDK includes tools for cropping, resizing, filtering, retouching, and adding text and stickers. Picsart also offers a variety of AI tools, such as remove background, image upscaling, text to image.

Img.ly’s SDK also offers a comprehensive suite of tools for editing photos and static content. Users can apply filters, adjust colors, crop images, and add overlays. The SDK is particularly strong in providing high-quality image rendering, however it does not offer any AI tools and API integrations to take the editing to the next level.

Editor SDK for Videos

Picsart offers video editing capabilities that allow users to trim, crop, and apply filters to video content. Additionally, it supports adding music, text overlays, animations and transitions, making it a versatile tool for creating engaging video content.

It also has a special industry solution, allowing business in healthcare and financial services to add the health warning (ISI) or financial services solutions.

Img.ly primarily focuses on photo editing, it also provides basic video editing features. These include trimming, cropping, and adding filters. However, Img.ly’s video editing capabilities do not include the variety of transitions and special industry solutions.

Editor SDK for Print

Both Picsart and Img.ly Editor SDKs include features specifically designed for creating print-ready content. Users can work with high-resolution images, adjust color profiles, and set up designs for various print formats. This makes both platforms a strong choice for users who need to create content for both digital and print media.

What sets Picsart apart is Image Upscaling and Remove background APIs which are integrated to the SDK, so you can make a sticker or upscale a photo up to 16 times right within the print editor. Img.ly does not have APIs, but they have a set of automations they offer for the print industry such as variable data printing or photo album layout presets.

Available content and AI tools In Img.ly vs Picsart

Content

Both Picsart and Img.ly offer Template Studio – tool to design templates.  Img.ly offers up to 20 example templates for you to test, while Picsart offers more than 2000 templates (including print ready), photos and fonts – all ready to use commercially and included in price packages.

AI tools

Img.ly does not offer any separate AI tools, so if you would like to integrate any, you can do that and find respective AI tools to upscale an image, integrate AI text to image generator – you can use the ones available on Picsart.io.

In case you would like to use all tools at once and worry less about integrations, then you could rely on Picsart SDK, as it already has many AI tools available for you to use within the editor, as well as separately. Credits are already included in all of your packages.

Bottom line: Img.ly offers intuitive template design and ways to upload content to the editor, while Picsart offers on top of Template Studio a library of content (templates, fonts, videos, photos) and AI tools included in the regular packages.

Editor SDK Automations and integrations

Img.ly doesn’t offer automations, but it does provide key integrations for content libraries:

  • Photos – Getty Images
  • Audio – Soundstripe

For content partnerships Picsart also has integrations with Getty Images, many license agreements. On top of that you could use automations for Picsart SDK and APIs via Zapier and Make. For print solutions you could also use Picsart’s SDK editor integrated with the EPS MDSF platform.

Bottom line: If you would need integrations and automations to improve your business workflows, Picsart SDK serves your needs better.

Pricing In Img.ly Vs Picsart

Img.ly doesn’t have its pricing published publicly and they do custom calculations depending on your use case, business size and needs after the demo call.

  • Pricing is tiered and depends on your MAU, it starts at around $600 a month for up to 250 users and it goes all the way up to $2000 for larger user bases
  • They offer 30 day free trial followed by 3 months of discounted price

After that yearly contracts are activated, so you would need to commit for a longer time period and pay for any extra things such as content, APIs and integrations.

Good thing about Img.ly plans is that for that price you get access for everything they have in their SDK library: mobile, web, video, photo and creative editor and can simply choose what you want to use.

Picsart’s pricing is transparent and its usage based. They offer separate packages for APIs (credit based),  advertising solutions and print solutions packages, so you will need to know what you need.

  • APIs can be purchased from few dollars a month
  • Static ads editor SDK and Photo print editor SDK start at $99/ month
  • Web to Print editor (with all content included) starts at $299/month
  • Video ads editor starts at $299/ month

All packages come with included credits and you can buy more credits if you want to use more of any APIs for image editing. Packages are billed monthly.

There is also an option for custom development in case you want specific features – for that you would need to contact Picsart’s product and sales teams.

Bottom line: Although Img.ly pricing includes all platforms and all SDKs at once, it’s overall higher and has yearly plan after extended trial. Picsart offers lower prices if you know exactly what kind of editor you want (photo, video or print), all packages include content ready to use commercially. On top of that Picsart bills its customers monthly.
